Business strategies - Energy

For a medium-sized provider of energy and energy solutions we prepared a business strategy for the period 2014 - 2017

Since 2007, the company has faced an approx. 20 % drop in income and an approx. 40 % drop in profit from their electricity trading business. The commercial part of the business especially showed a strong negative profit level trend in the last 2 years, which was mainly due to the pressures from the competition.

The company was looking for possible solutions to neutralize its negative business trends and for an accurate estimation of the financial effects of the potential solutions.

We prepared a business strategy for the period from 2014 to 2017, which included the following areas:

• Trading with electricity and gas, also to a lesser degree with pellets

• Engineering, production, trading and the sale of CHP, energy management and renewable energy

• Production of heat, engineering and the sale of multi-communal services

Based on the measures from the strategy, the company focused on the primary activity of trading with electricity and managed to maintain the existing market share in the B2C market. We also started new projects in the fields of renewable energy and efficient energy use.
