The Story of Pristop

The company Mednarodno tiskovno središče Ljubljana was established in 1989, which was followed a year later by the establishment of PR Centre and Skupina INI. The core activity of these companies was public relations and media monitoring. Coinciding with Slovenia’s efforts for indepe ndence in 1991, the companies jointly established the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) the outright stake in which was later transferred to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. On 26 August 1992 the companies merged to form a single company under the Pristop brand.

In the following years Pristop became a pioneer in the area of the development of public relations in Slovenia. Pristop experts helped establish the Slovenian Public Relations Association and were subsequently involved in the inclusion of the Slovenian Association and Slovenian experts in international professional organisations.

Having consolidated its role as the leader in public relations and media monitoring in Slovenia, Pristop expanded into advertising and marketing communications services in 1995 by bringing together a group of top experts in the field. In 1997, Pristop and seven Slovenian advertising agencies established the biggest Slovenian agency for media buying, Mediapool, and opened its first agency outside of Slovenia by launching a subsidiary in Macedonia.

Pristop officially became the biggest Slovenian communications and consultancy agency in 1999. In the same year, it became an owner of the leading Croatian public relations agency Premisa. This was followed in 2000 and 2001 with the establishment of sister agencies in Sarajevo and Belgrade and the acquisition of a majority stake in the digital communications company Renderspace. In 2002, at the first Slovenian festival of communication efficiency, Effie, Pristop collected three bronze Effies. A year later it was crowned the Slovenian Agency of the Year at the Slovenian Advertising Festival.

In early 2005, Pristop completed a strategic partnership with the leading Croatian communications company Digitel komunikacije, forming the most influential communications and consultancy group in SE Europe. In the same year Pristop ceased its media monitoring services and created the company Kliping. In 2006, Pristop established Pristop Europe, the first independent Slovenian communications company with its seat in Brussels. Also in that year, it expanded its range of services with corporate and marketing consultancy.

In 2008, it established a company for media buying Pristop Media, while in 2010 it became the owner of the respected advertising agency Idea Plus, which holds important market shares in Serbia and Macedonia. In 2011 Pristop and an internationally renowned Swiss group Goldbach Group established a joint venture Goldbach Adriatic. In 2013 the venture achieved a turnover of EUR 9 million, positioning itself as the biggest regional digital marketing agency. connected the companies offering digital marketing services. The venture Pristop is one of the most prize-winning Slovenian agencies at the Slovenian Advertising Festival and is a regular winner of Effie, Gold Quill, Prizma, Golden Drum, Netko and other awards for its work.

Today Pristop is one of the leading consultancy and communications companies in SE Europe. Headquartered in Slovenia, it has been a partner of key local and global companies as well as governmental, non-governmental and international organisations for over 20 years.
